The Bun Shop

The Bun Shop

Los Angeles, CA

Restaurants
151 N Western Ave, Los Angeles 90004, CA
The Bun Shop is a Korean BBQ bao & brew spot located in the heart of L.A.'s Koreatown. It's a brick-n-mortar extension of The Bun Truck, an L.A. food truck that's been around for six years serving Korean-Mediterranean fusion along with a bit of grit from Detroit, owner Brian Yeun's home town.

The menu features expanded pork belly offerings and great dishes like spicy Korean pork paired with Greek tzatziki sauce
and fried avocado buns. For desert, try their deep-fried, tempura-battered Oreos with green tea ice cream and whipped cream.

The Bun Shop was designed by fellow Detroit native James Denton. The wood tones and dim lighting of the space is similar to what you'd find in traditional Korean brew houses. Denton incorporated industrial aspects of Detroit in the 1920s-style light fixtures and artwork on the walls. He also used reclaimed wood from the old Santa Monica Pier for the panels on the walls.
