Young Swiss Designer Conquering the International Design Scene
Ginger Zalaba, CEO and designer of Zalaba Design from 2012, graduated with a Master's degree in exhibition design at the University of the Arts Zurich. Moreover, while studying, she organized many exhibitions and worked in multiple art galleries. Then, after her post-graduate studies in interior design at IED Milano, she spent a one-year internship in a studio focusing on architecture and interior design in Zurich.
Consequently, in 2015, she debuted her first furniture collection KOLB in Milano at Salone del Mobile. In this way, she paid homage to her grandfather’s Bauhaus Design principles. Furthermore, this collection’s success led instantly to working relationships with different international companies around the world.
“We dedicate a reduction of design to showcase the essence of the materials used. In addition, this exposes the purity of form and function – less is more.” – Ginger Zalaba

“As a child growing up in a family of designers and art lovers, I was constantly captivated by the modern designs my grandfather created in his metal workshop; I was similarly fascinated by the African art on display in my parents’ gallery. They would always drag me and my two younger sisters to all kinds of exhibitions. Hence, it was common to find artists, designers and collectors at the dinner table with us. With a childhood surrounded by such beauty, I knew I wanted to work in the creative industry but never could decide between art and design – the easy solution was to major in both.“ – Ginger Zalaba
