"Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." - Forrest Gump"
My name is Virginia Clarke and I have been painting since 2007. I am a self-taught abstract artist painting under the name VIRGLO. Painting abstracts to me is like composing a symphony of music. Interestingly enough, I see a synergy between being a Djembe player and art. If the ingredients of variety, rhythm and balance are present the artwork then takes on a unique form and speaks for itself. My inspiration is found in the dusky blues of the sea and the warm blast of a dazzling sunlight. Using simple household items as tools, I usually combine acrylic mediums and organic material from the sea to push media beyond the realm of its possibilities. Experimenting has played a key role in exploring color, texture and form on the canvas. I love this interplay between media and color and how it evokes emotion in an artwork. New and diverse environments excite me as I always find a snippet of nature to bring to an artwork. The challenge is always to find the unexpected in the most ordinary surroundings. Join me as we explore this artistic journey together.
