Austin, TX

Veronica Koltuniak got her start as a set decorator in Los Angeles where she created character-driven living space for film and commercials. She opened MILDRED, a design studio, in 1992 and focused her energy on furniture design and window treatments, which allowed her the opportunity to work with top designers around the world as well as an A list of Hollywood clients including Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Jeff Goldblum, and Matthew Perry. Her long-time collaboration with Courteney Cox and David Arquette led to guest designer gigs on their TV series “Mix It Up.”

For Veronica and her family, moving to Austin has been a welcome departure from the Hollywood scene. Since arriving in 2001, she has resumed designing residential interiors, created a new line of furniture under the name VEROKOLT, and expanded into commercial design. Veronica designed Austin’s popular 24 Diner, taking a fresh approach to the 1950s “greasy spoon” using one-of-a-kind found objects. In addition to Easy Tiger, the bespoke bakery and beer garden currently under construction in downtown Austin, she has several other exciting restaurant spaces in the works.

“I’m always on the lookout for that unusual castoff piece I can re-imagine into something unexpected,” says Veronica. “Sometimes I create a story about the space or a character as a way to give the design soul and direction. I don’t always know where the process will end up, but the uncertainty is where the magic happens!”
Wescover creator since 2019
