"Your left-handed friend"
Allison Hall is an illustrator in Savannah, Georgia. She was born and raised in Dallas, Texas in a home that usually had markers on the kitchen table and forts in the living room. In 2016 Allison received a BFA in Illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Her summer camp background has influenced her work to be warm, nostalgic, and lighthearted.

Allison creates with the hope of expressing that natural beauty and play add flavor to life, and that good stories can be shared with earnest simplicity. She loves projects that are beautiful and silly. Allison is also left-handed and mostly paints with gouache.

Allison does everything from custom wedding artwork, branding and murals for small businesses to painting commissions and selling prints in craft markets. Her Instagram and Etsy shop handles are under The Small Creative.

Q&A

How do your pieces come to life? Tell us one interesting thing about your creative process?

"I'm a natural procrastinator, so when I paint I usually have to take many breaks to help refresh my mind and creative juices. But there's a lot of power in revisiting a project after a break. Breaks are so good!"

Q&A

What funny moments, unexpected surprises, or obstacles have you encountered?

"My first mural gig was painting little landscapes inside of dog kennels at a local dog spa. I chose the color palette so carefully, and then realized that only dogs were going to be seeing these murals and dogs are color blind!"
