Shannon Geis Murals

San Francisco, CA

Hi, I'm Shannon!

I love paint and painting, designing murals, creating spaces that are inspiring, and collaborating with others artists and designers. I'm based in the San Francisco Bay Area, but have worked and traveled around the globe. Keep in mind, hiring me means you are supporing the arts! My ultimate goal is to be painting murals in restorative spaces and communities.

Collaboration Process: Send me an email or text about your project, idea, subject, or style that you want to see in your space. A picture and measurements of the space help me get a basic idea of where we are going. For larger murals, we can set up a meeting to look at the space together and talk options and budget. One of the first steps in my process is gathering inspiration on the subject. I can send you some ideas, and you can get back to me with your preferences on style/colors. I can then send you a quote based on the size of the room and the ideas/options. Original designs and samples require a deposit.

For large scale murals (5 days+), we can do a mock up, but for smaller jobs or ones with a tighter budget, I think it's best to just go for it and not waste time on sketches. We can just set a date and unless we add or change the mural, the price will not change from the orignial quote. It's good to plan ahead, so I can fit you into the calender, it especially gets busy at the end of the year.

Pricing: If you email or text me a picture of the space and an idea of what you are wanting, I can give you a general quote. Or, I can meet with you in the space and we can talk options and pricing. I paint for about 7 hrs a day starting around 10am. My minimum is generally $1400 with materials. A 50% deposit is due before any sketches or painting will begin. The remainder is due on the day I complete the mural. For a large scale murals, $30/sq foot is the average calculating price, of course sometimes people want something simple, and some people want a full Degourney style detail. Again, the original quote won't change unless we add or change the mural. I prefer to get paid cash directly by a client rather than going through the design firm.

I'm not into competing for jobs with other artists. There's enough info available about me to decide if I'm the artist for the work you want done.

More About Me: I was born and raised in Houston, Texas, and attended St. Mary’s College in Moraga, California, graduating with a degree in Art. After graduation, my love of painting and desire for adventure took me on a two-year journey throughout Europe. While there, I fell in love with the modern design in Germany, Holland, and Denmark, and the historic murals and decorative painting in Italy, Austria, and Turkey. The European patrons and artist’s ability to transform their surroundings into spaces of great beauty stirred in me a passion to have a career doing exactly that (but with a contemporary twist).

As a result of this inspiration, Shannon and Co. Murals opened in 2000 with a focus on murals and children’s rooms. My clients have included the top five decorative and mural painting companies in San Francisco, a restaurant in Livermore, a bar in Healdsburg, a fancy hotel in Yontville, six schools on the Penninsula, six hospitals around the Bay Area, and lots of amazing designers. Today, my inspiration continues to come through my world travels, and from my collaboration with clients and nonprofits. I am also dedicated to spending time with family and friends, exploring street art, and volunteering for Bread and Roses, Rooms that Rock 4 Chemo, Rebuilding Together, and California Clean Money. I hope you enjoy the website.

And, don't forget to check out my VOLUNTEER MURALS on the mural up page and my decorative artwork on my etc page!

Extra note: Textured walls take longer to paint and sometimes it's a good investment to have them smoothed before a detailed mural or one with lots of lettering.
