Scott and Taylor is the dream and vision of mother and daughter design duo Lesley Scott and Olivia Scott-Taylor.
From a background in Interior Design and styling, Lesley's specialty is 'staging' properties for the sales process as well as refurbishing and up-cycling one-off select pieces for the home.
The 'Chair' concept evolved from Lesley wanting to create something completely different for her own kitchen. She decided to refurbish a collection of original 1930's-1960's tube steel and ply school chairs and add her own unique blend of imagery, paint effects and lacquering techniques.
People saw the finished chairs and absolutely loved them and an instant demand was established.
However, for all their qualities, working with the reclaimed originals had its drawbacks. Too often the frames were twisted and the ply backs and seats dry and splintered. And more impractically they were generally too low and small as a modern dining chair.
Olivia came up with the idea of designing and manufacturing their own chair.
That way they could have the best of both worlds. They could retain the classic retro look and functional utilitarian styling but tweak it to have the exact design they wanted and one that would suit modern requirements.
Olivia and Lesley are proud to present their interpretation of this Mid C20th British classic.
