"Moore’s paintings and murals explore humans’ cultural relationship with their natural habitat. Drawing from her background in architecture, Moore infuses her organic landscapes, plantscapes, and group portraits with an expressive edge."
Sarah Moore is an artist living and working in Knoxville, TN. She grew up in the rural Southeast, spending her childhood exploring forests, fields, rivers, and National Geographic magazines. This early connection to, and curiosity about, landscapes across the world eventually led to extensive travel. Moore has spent time in 27 countries, including months-long stays in Argentina, India, Israel, Nepal, Spain, and Thailand. Slow, immersive trips have allowed her to connect more intimately with people across the globe and develop a deeper understanding of how they, in turn, connect with nature in ways that are unique to their local culture and landscape.
Moore earned a Master of Architecture degree from Washington University in St. Louis in 2012, and was a Danforth Scholar for the duration of her study there—an honor which recognized personal integrity, selflessness, and commitment to community. She also holds a B.A. in Architecture from Clemson University.
