Sam Andrew is a Manchester-based ceramicist making a functional range inspired by time living in Japan, Hungary, The Netherlands and the UK.
Sam uses the nerikomi method of making , which is to layer and press clay, forming into tableware. Central to his design process is the reuse of waste clay materials, using off-cuts to throw into cups or inlay into plates, or mixing the waste clay and throwing into entirely new tableware. A principle that celebrates waste as valuable.
