Ryan Michael Ford (b. 1979, Waterbury, CT) earned a BFA from Savannah College of Art and Design, GA, in 2002. His original inspirations derive from 12th-16th century Sienese paintings, Philip Guston, The Harry who Crew, George Condo, pop culture and video games. Ford delves deep into the psyche to twist the viewers mind with a strong grasp on surreal comic abstraction. At the same time he also knows how to use open-air negative space to induce a sense of provocative tranquility. Although his work sometimes deals with serious topics and themes they are never without a mix of humor, pure absurdity and ridiculousness. Ford lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
