"Inspired by far away places, I hope to bring a touch of magic to your world."Based in Devon, UK, artist Rosie Harbottle works as an illustrator and designer. Inspired by a bohemian lifestyle, her varied work uses colour and pattern to evoke a sense of deep happiness and peace. Rosie grew up within a creative family, her mother a textile artist with an extensive collection of patterns and colour that no doubt had a huge influence. Graduating from the University of Plymouth after studying Illustration Rosie started working in-house for Paper & Cloth Design Studio creating artwork for the kids market to be sold across the world before pursuing a freelance career. It was in the first few months of being self-employed that she found herself being drawn to the charms of Morocco and so traveled to Marrakech to work with Boutique Souk for two months. Here began a love affair with Morocco and Rosie has been regularly visiting and working with the company ever since which has inspired so much of her work. Zellij pattern, the colours of the medina walls and of course camels have found there way into much of her work."Travelling is hugely inspiring to me, it’s the change of pace, the smells, the change of landscape, the people. I always come back feeling refreshed and energized for new projects after experiencing a different culture or landscape."Rosie hand paints everything with watercolour and gouache and loves the process of choosing a colour palette, sketching the painting out first in pencil before putting brush to paper. Rosie now creates work for stationery, editorial, fashion as well as personal paintings. Her whimsical style hopes to inspire a sense of wonder, imagination and add a touch of magic to your world.
