Audrey has been creating, making, mentoring and teaching visual art with communities for the past 17 years. Young carers, young offenders, refugees, children in care, disabled young people, adults, schools, the list goes on. Her passion and drive to involve people in visual art is something that has long been part of her makeup and her love of bold colours and large-scale work invites itself to include many in the process. Her have a go attitude and “you’ll be amazed with what you can achieve” mantra has touched many and with an inclusive supportive environment as the baseline to all that she does there’s a true sense of community throughout all her projects.
The process of working with a group, exploring what people want, thinking of how we’re going to achieve it, together, as a group…it’s a great feeling! And the results… although wonderful, vibrant and aesthetically pleasing, well that’s just the product. The real joy is in the process. The conversations, the laughs, the increased confidence, the enthusiasm. Community Arts is relevant, it makes a difference!
