What motivates and inspires you?
"Inspiration is activity. I have Maya, my chocolate lab, who provides an useful distraction with her need for "fetchin" of the tennis ball. I paint on the floor so I hustle corner to corner. Motion is my key inspiration. Looping gestures with indiscriminate paint droppings energize me from the start of a new work. I can't stand still for long. Music builds tempo, Spotify has introduced me to realms of musical talent who helped shape new rhythms. Everything mentioned sweetens the motivation.
But not all is elation. Pull-ups from a two-inch rope tied to the studio rafters becomes a liberation for stress, a healthy divergence to climbing the walls. I like movement, its dynamics, which equates into my love of basketball, running and road biking."
