I am a happy go lucky no fuss man who just truly loves creating pieces that I see in my head or that have come about from my inquisitive nature and a deep urge within me to explore my own creativity, and I think is just more of a reflection of my true self coming out in the piece as I create straight from the heart.
I have carved out a very distinctive style that I can call my own, all pieces having a natural flow and harmony within the piece while also playing with the negative space within and surrounding a piece too. All pieces reflecting who I am as a person, bright, quirky and a little bit cheeky.
We all have such unique ways of looking at life and the world around us, what I see could be very different to the next person and this is how I view my pieces I have in my head what I see within the piece but once I put it out there its up toi the masses to decide what they see it as, I feel in a much broader way, this is how we can really learn and grow from each other, people can open our eyes to completely new ways of viewing topics issues and the world around us.
Having never actually making a conscious decision to become a creative or strive to do it, everything just happened through circumstance and my urge to explore my own creativity
This relaxed attitude also comes out in my process too. Never really having a plan and then just relying on intuitiveness and spontaneity
Shantell martin describes her process as not having any plan and just relying on intuitiveness.
I work in the same way, I may just start sketching and just see what comes out. Or go into the work shop and start playing around with forms shapes and lines for sculptures, I have carved out a very distinctive style that I can call my own, all pieces having a natural flow and harmony within the piece while also playing with the negative space within and surrounding a piece too. All pieces reflecting who I am as a person, bright, quirky and a little bit cheeky. My work has become an exploration of what lies in my head and behind my eyes
“if we try be fashionable within our work we will inevitably become unfashionable” what will all these people do with there pugs when they become uncool….
