From 1991 to 1997 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and from 1997 to 1999 at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague . In 1999 he received the Jindřich Chalupecký Award . In the years 1997–2008 he undertook an expedition to New Guinea to the native tribes with photographer and painter Barbora Šlapetová . Their book of these paths Why is black night received in 2005 Prize for the discovery of Magnesia Litera . [1]
Lukáš Rittstein and Barbora Šlapetová participated in the Czech exposition of the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai with a project presenting a symbiosis between the city and nature.
