Laura Fishman Art

London, United Kingdom

"Laura's paintings feature dynamic colour, texture and movement, inspired by a love of nature and a passion for paint."
Laura Fishman earned her BFA Painting in her native United States from the State University of New York. It was here she studied with abstract expressionist Joop Sanders, friend and apprentice of Willem de Kooning, and the the founder of the American Abstract Expressionism Group.
She continued her studies in textile design at the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York and earned her MA Fine Art at Middlesex University, London. She remains active with artist communities, exhibitions and associations in the United Kingdom, Europe and in the United States. Laura currently lives and works in London and is art curator at Stephens House & Gardens, Finchley.
Since her early devotion to painting, Laura’s been motivated by her love of nature and a fascination with paint as a material. The influence of her education can be seen in her dynamic works, with her use of bold colour, texture and intuitive style.  She gravitates toward the abstract in art because it allows her the freedom to interpret the world she sees through her own creative lens.
Laura's work can be found in private and corporate collections in the UK, the USA, Mexico, the Caribbean, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Q&A

What do you want people to do or feel when they encounter your creations?

"The wow factor - nothing is better than that reaction. Also, when people ask - 'how did you do that' is really satisfying! I aim to connect with the viewer through the language of colour and paint and produce artworks that are beautifully textured, sublimely multi-coloured and visually engaging."
