Kimberly is an American artist based in Bury St Edmunds, England. A native of Washington State, she studied art & design at the Art Institute of Seattle. After a twenty-year career in costume design, she rediscovered her love of painting. Her new work features vibrant abstract paintings and embellished giclee print work which appear in print, galleries, commercial spaces and the homes of collectors the world over.
The observable relationship between gravity, ink, paper, and natural features in Kimberly's new fluid series. Delicate forms in large-scale compositions are produced by the spontaneity of poured ink and mica on canvas and paper. The pull of gravity is used to carefully control the layers in her paintings; brushwork is rarely used. Each piece has several veils of color that blend directly on the substrate to create a collision of unexpected hues. Kimberly’s work resides in a surprising area where Art, Chemistry, and Physics meet and overlap. The randomness of the pouring process juxtaposed against the certainty of the visual outcome, particularly with regard to biomorphic shapes forms the basis of Kimberly's recent abstract series.
Kimberly's work can be viewed in her studio, on the banks of the River Lark in Suffolk, England. By appointment.
Kimberly regularly participates in charity art auctions and fund-raising events to raise awareness and help out in the animal welfare community.
