“I'm an artist who mucks around in abstraction and design to see if I can find secret messages from the universe… like how the colour blue works, or how painted lines affect a blank white page.”
Katie Brennan is an artist whose work is a weird conversational hybrid between abstraction and design. Working in gouache, her work relies heavily on design thinking like pattern, repetition and a sense of play. Inspired by the power of logo design to communicate meaning outside representation, her work is her own brand of absurd scientific method of painting.
Katie Brennan is an artist and art consultant currently based in Comox, BC. on Vancouver Island. She completed her MFA at the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario and her BFA at Emily Carr University in Vancouver BC. She has exhibited work across Canada, the United States and England. Her work has been offered at major retailers across Canada & the US and appeared in interior design work in Domino Magazine, House Beautiful, Better Homes & Gardens, and House and Home, among others.
