Kathleen Murphy creates statement jewelry and fine art that is timelessly chic. Her jewelry is an accessory for your daily wardrobe and her art is an accessory for your home. The paintings and jewelry are alike in that they both have beautiful color combinations, organic shapes, and can be loved by all generations of women.
Kathleen’s paintings are mixed media abstract art using acrylics, alcohol inks, acrylic inks and often gold leaf accents. Her love of fabric, balance, and composition help her create art that is tailored to fit many different design styles. She enjoys working with interior decorators and clients to color match and personalize a custom piece of art home decor.
Kathleen creates jewelry to fit the colors of the season. Her designs are known for extraordinary elegance, texture, and function because they can be worn for many occasions. She finds it interesting to combine unique materials. Leather, natural wood beads, semi-precious stones, textiles, globally sourced beads, and gold findings are a few of her favorites.
This creative process started while she was in high school. With her father in the U.S Navy, Kathleen lived in six states and Cuba before graduating from North Carolina State University. “I always liked creating pieces for family, friends and myself no matter where we lived. My business became a natural extension of that.” Kathleen, who is a self-taught artist, was a winner in the first Belk Southern Designer Showcase. Her jewelry has been featured in Belk department stores and boutiques across the Southeast. Murphy Jewelry has also been seen in Vogue, Lucky and Garden and Gun among many other publications. She was published as one of the “Top Jewelry Designers in Charlotte.” Kathleen lives in Charlotte with her husband and two little girls.
