Known for her determined attention to detail, Julie Rootes personalizes interiors with memorable colors, textures and a custom eye. A mother of three, she has the striking ability to create rich spaces with stunning fabrics and finishes that nonetheless stand up to the demands of everyday life.
After graduating from Texas Christian University, Julie worked as a buyer for the revered Italian fashion house Prada. There, she learned that even the small details make all the difference in presentation and design. When she left her position at Prada and moved to California, Julie was drawn to interior spaces and the process of personalizing a home.
She returned to school and earned her interior design degree from San Francisco’s Academy of Art. When the boutique firm she had joined suddenly closed its doors, Julie took charge of a recently launched project and completed it on schedule and within budget. From there she built a remarkable roster of clients and opened her own firm in 2011.
“I’ve always been passionate about details,” Julie says, “whether it’s couture clothing or a powder room.” With a discerning list of insider resources—from artisans and craftspeople to textile manufacturers—Julie works with her clients to curate interiors that are timeless, extraordinary and one-of-a-kind.
