Jud Turner

Eugene, OR

Jud Turner is a sculptor from Eugene, Oregon who has been working with found or re-purposed objects and welded steel for 20 years. He was educated at the University of Oregon, and his work has been featured in over 100 exhibitions, and is in public and private collections around the world, including Ripley’s Believe it or Not, the Boston Museum of Science and the collection of Rosie O’Donnell. His art has also been featured in over a dozen books including National Geographic and Juxtapoz magazine, and he was recently profiled on the Oregon Art Beat TV show.
Turner's sculptures are visually engaging, using symmetry, repetition and intricate detail to balance the darker contemporary themes he explores. His artistic philosophy is “Between seeming contradictions lie greater truths”, and much of his subject matter explores the relationship of opposites. Themes such as the balance between nature and technology, mortality, the passage of time, and transportation are common throughout his extensive body of work.
