"Abstract Expressionist Painter & Sculptor"
Joyce is an internationally collected multidisciplinary painter and sculptor living and working in Toronto. While her main focus is Abstract Expressionist painting, she also has a passion for sculpting, painting, and drawing the human form for which she was academically trained.
Joyce's paintings are bold and entirely conceptual. She creates with gestural brushwork to convey emotion and reaction. She begins by randomly applying a heavy-bodied Gesso base to the canvas to create an impromptu geometric design. Using this design as a template for acrylic paint application, she employs large brushes and palette knives allowing the paint freedom to drip while scraping out areas of interest to reveal the underpainting. Joyce has been most influenced by the Abstract Expressionist movement of post-World War II America and specifically by the works of Robert Motherwell, Franz Kline, and Hans Hofmann.

Over the last twelve years, Joyce has exhibited in solo and group shows within Canada, the United States, and worldwide. Featured on several occasions in American Art Collector magazine since 2009, her work is found in private collections in Canada, the USA, and Europe.
