“Josh Garber’s sculptures incorporate commercially manufactured metal objects, such as nails, screws, nuts, and bolts into rhythmic three-dimensional forms, the surfaces of which feature haptic textures. Inspired by cellular forms, Garber treats his materials as a sort of genetic substrate to the larger compositions. He contrasts the mechanistic production of his materials with the undulating and quasi-organic forms of the sculptures. The objects’ limbs spill out like tendrils and enfold back inside the object, creating dynamic relations between the positive and negative space within each sculpture.”
