Jenny Kastner is a Canadian painter from a dynamic geophysical meeting place in Ontario magically termed ‘The Land Between.’ Her work is rich with nostalgia, reflecting the power of this landscape and acting as a portal into an experience of awe and wonder. Gestural and graphic in nature, her paintings are centred around communicating a particular experience of place by capturing the subtle and apparent movements and gestures and animating her subject matter in an attempt to play up the vibrance of the landscape as she sees it.
Kastner studied Cultural Studies at Trent University and Arts Education at the University of Toronto, teaching high school for six years before dedicating her time solely to her work. She currently paints from her boathouse studio on Stoney Lake. Kastner's work can now be found in private collections across Canada and the US, France, the UK, Australia, South Africa and Barbados.
