"Industrial Facility creates new identities for lost objects.” Wallpaper magazine, September 2008
Industrial Facility was formed by Sam Hecht and Kim Colin in 2002 to investigate and contextualize products, furniture, and environments so that their potential for progress is revealed. With the transition from singular to networked products, they also formed a new division called Future Facility to investigate this area of industry. They have run teaching programs at the Royal College of Art, with Hecht also having been Visiting Professor at HfG Karlsruhe. In 2009 Hecht was made Royal Designer for Industry with Colin joining him in 2015. The office was given its sixth iF Hanover Gold Award in 2015 and won the Designs of the Year award for Furniture in 2011, alongside being nominated for the Prince Philip Prize."
