"Contemporary Canadian Painter based in St. Catharines, Niagara"
My paintings are an exploration into a realm where I meld the figurative with the abstract. Colour, process, and emotion are of key significance. My art training at the Art Students League began with full time training from the live human model, before I started working in the abstract painting classes. Working mainly in the studio of Bill Scharf, who had been the protege and studio assistant to Mark Rothko, caused elements of New York Abstract Expressionism create pictorial dialogue with my previous representative work based on the human figure.
Currently living and working in a studio in downtown St. Catharines in Niagara, I create paintings that are shown in commercial galleries across Canada, and have shown in exhibitions in the U.S.A., Sweden, Norway, and Trinidad. My studio is open for visits where you can look at work on the go and finished paintings. And after finishing up work toward the next couple of shows, I will be available to take on commissions again too. Thanks for looking!
