Cristina Getson is an abstract expressionist painter based in Toronto, Canada. Working with acrylics, she uses vibrant colours to evoke abstract landscapes. Influenced by the pull of opposites - smooth and rough, light and dark, indefinite and detailed - her paintings become a dialogue between nature and the self, and strive to capture not the physical aspects of a moment in time, but rather the feeling of it. The application of paint is made visible through the brushstrokes and marks left behind; it is a joyful revelling in the materiality of the paint itself.
Cristina has exhibited in Canada and across the United States, and was accepted as an Artist-in-Residence at Palazzo Monti in Italy, in 2018.
