Charles Arnoldi

Los Angeles, CA

“Charles Arnoldi is a contemporary American abstract painter and sculptor. In a boldly graphic and colorful aesthetic, Arnoldi’s work employs a wide range of abstract visual language, from hard-edged geometric compositions to fluid, lyrical linework. He often incorporate trees branches and plywood in creating dynamic arrangements which simultaneously suggest architecture, Modernist painting, and tropical plant life. “I’m always receptive to new ideas, and I pursue them to their logical ends,” the artist has remarked. “Plus, once I get good at something, it seems to me that it’s time to move on. I don’t do it for novelty’s sake. There’s always pressure to reinvent the wheel—but that’s just a silly pursuit.” Born on April 10, 1946 in Dayton, OH, he moved to California at the age of 18 and went on to study at the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles. He has been widely exhibited in the united states and abroad, notably including the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao and The Museum of Modern Art in New York.Today, Arnoldi’s works can be found in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, among others. Arnoldi lives and works in Los Angeles, CA.”
