"Texture, colour, plains, sheen, imagination. Everything is on the table."
Andre Serin is an award winning, Canadian-born artist based in Vancouver, BC.
The approach to Andre’s work stems from a genuine love of nature and the beautiful moments that commonly occur. These moments are then deconstructed, filtered through a mild lens of abstraction and rebuilt using a variety of acrylic materials. The vocabulary of each piece speaks to a moment of suspended animation and questions where the boundaries lie between what we see, what we experience and how we remember it. Each moment is reinterpreted through an ever-evolving language of bold colour and dramatic texture.
Since receiving a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Victoria in 2004, Andre has continued to develop his practice through gallery partnerships, local art events and self-directed projects. Andre has taught for the University of Victoria and Emily Carr University of Art and Design at North Island College.
Andre Serin has exhibited his work in Toronto, Seattle, Victoria, Vancouver Island, the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver.
His paintings form part of collections across Canada, the U.S.A and Europe.
