"Contemporary watercolor in light palettes with an emphasis on the mark-making. Intimate to large scale, on paper and on panel."
Ana Zanic was born and educated in Croatia, where she earned a Master of Fine Arts Degree from the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Zagreb, in 2002. She exhibits widely in the United States and Croatia, and her work is in numerous public and private collections, in the US and Europe. Zanic'c abstract watercolors bring to mind notions of abandoned landscapes, ancient scribblings, amoebic flows, distant constellations. The spontaneous and gestural activity of the mark making in Zanic’s work is closely tied to calligraphy, language and symbolic communication. Some of her publicly displayed works include the Loews Hotel, downtown Chicago, Wachovia Headquarters in Houston, and Central National-Gottesman in New York. She is represented by Kathryn Markel Fine Arts, New York.
