I am frank and this is American Handcraft.
We create unique custom furniture, decor, and objects for the home. And offer design + fabrication services for many types of art, installation, retail, residential, and commercial projects.
I was raised in a craft + design centered environment. My mother worked in fashion and later ran a family business providing homemade objects for teaching decorative tole painting. This is how, at an early age, I was introduced to many aspects of craft production .
After studying at UNC Chapel Hill, I attended the Massachusetts College of Art + Design where I received a BFA in Industrial Design. I continue my work there, teaching as an adjunct instructor.
Since 2006, I have been intentional in my exploration of form and craft through the design and production of functional and decorative objects. Inspired by people and emotion, I strive to create work that is colorful, whimsical, elegant, well crafted, and comfortable; often engaging and contextualizing moments of nostalgia and iconography from our human object landscape.
