I was born and raised in Sydney and have been living and working in London for the past 18 years.
Since graduating in Australia with a degree in Theatre Design I have worked in television as an Art Director but now concentrate on my art practice.
My work reflects my passion for colour, found materials and the processes of collecting and arranging. I draw inspiration from a wide variety of sources with architecture and the built environment being particularly influential.
The found and sometimes forgotten materials I use, with their strong sense of nostalgia, provide a further source of inspiration and fascination. I aim to transform these objects to exist in a more contemporary and ordered context with a clean, vibrant and geometric aesthetic.
My pieces are intended to be visually engaging, often with a pattern-led concept and a contemplative aspect for the history behind the materials; history of the time period they were produced in and the individual story of each item.
I also enjoy the emotional response that colour and repetition can bring, and the notion that once the materials are altered, rearranged and framed they become perceived in an altogether different way.
