“In my paintings, the subject matter evokes spaces that are symbolic and transitional- the space between two places. Water, bridges, distant horizons, dreams- these are all the stuff of cliché yet for me are vehicles for a painterly invention. Shapes and images respond to each other as the pictures evolve. The act of painting itself is a kind of bridge between the actual world and intuitive fantasy.”
