Chieko Shimizu Fujioka is a “contemporary glass artist capturing the essence of nature.” Her glass mosaics are inspired by the fragile moments experienced in her life and stand as a reminder to be thankful for the little things. Her unique process involves compiling colored shattered glass to create pieces that play with light and reflection. Chieko’s optimistic nature and positive outlook are what allow her to produce these stunning mosaics that concoct a delicate elegance. The care she puts into each piece is evident in the resulting quality. In their own way, her glass mosaics become metaphors and allegories of the outdoors and allow us to bring the comforting familiarity of nature into our spaces. Hear what she had to say about her motivations and creative process.

Original art and designs are important because…
Because every piece is a part of my life. From preparing the materials to brainstorming the design, execution of painting, and attachment of glass, my soul is poured into the work. The creation is special and can not be replaced with anything else.
I started creating in order to…
